Key Takeaways from Odisha FC vs Hyderabad FC.

Hyderabad FC began their campaign in the Hero ISL 2020 by bagging 3 points against Odisha FC courtesy of a first half penalty converted by Aridane. All in all a complete performance from
the team which would have the fans in great spirits.

Solidity in the Defense

Hyderabad FC managed to keep their first ever clean sheet in ISL in their win 1-0 against Odisha FC. The biggest problem from the last season was that the Defense conceded 39 goals, the
highest ever in an ISL season. The new coach had to sort this out and he came out with flying colors. The formation of 4-2-3-1 did give some cushion from the opposition attacks and helped to cut off a few dangerous balls from the middle. The keeper Subrata Pal was hardly brought into the action and whenever called up did do his part well.

Pace in the Flanks

The wingers ran riot on either flanks using the width provided by the Odisha FC defenders. Some excellent long balls were chased on the wings by taking advantage of the acres of spaces
left behind by the opposition. A number of chances were created by the wingers by giving cut-backs. The wingers did help the defence whenever a need was arised flaunting their pace and stamina.

Calm on the ball

Whenever in possession of the ball, the players tend to have control and composure could be seen in the passing while playing out from the back. The pressing was decent enough whenever
the possession was hampered, the players were quick to regain the ball and passing it into the right areas. The players were good with the ball on their feet.

The tale of Opposite Ends for Returning players

Both the teams had their attacks led by former players of the opposition. Aridane had a pretty fruitful outing scoring a penalty and some good shots on and off target attemptingto get better off his old teammates, while Marcelino had a forgetful evening against his former team and was duly substituted in the first 10 minutes after the break.

Finishing can still be improved

Hyderabad FC started off the game excellently by attempting 11 shots in the first half, making 4 on target. But the only goal that stood was from a penalty. The wingers had an excellent game by taking the ball into the opposition’s final third numerous times. The final ball was often not reached the players in the middle or the chances were not finished. The set piece routines were brought in from the training ground but were not converted. The finishing can still be improved, and the opposition keeper did save some excellent attempts.
